Destination Wedding Photography - Christopher Martin

5 Location Ideas for a Destination Wedding to Remember I love my job as a wedding photographer in Kent but I often grab the opportunity to indulge in my passion for wedding photography in London, Essex, Sussex and Surrey. Sometimes I even get asked to be a Destination Wedding Photographerdestination wedding photographer which involves travelling with the wedding entourage to a special destination, often abroad, for an extra special wedding.

I have just been booked to shoot an amazing wedding in Florida, March 2015 and this got me thinking. Destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular and I started to think about the most romantic destinations that couples could travel to from the UK to get married. Wedding photographers love destination weddings, well I do anyway :). Shooting in an environment thats new to me just gets the creative juices going crazy! This just seems to be increased when you are shooting in a foreign country.

So whether you are dreaming of a beach wedding or a romantic city wedding, here's my countdown of 5 location ideas for a destination wedding to remember.

1. Paris

Where better than the city of romance itself to take your vows? Paris is a wedding photographer's dream with so many iconic backgrounds to choose from. It's also utterly chic and stylish and once you are there, you'll realise why it's favoured by so many romantic artists, writers and photographers. It's also incredibly easy to get to from the UK either by air, train or ferry.

2. The Big Island, Hawaii

If you want diversity and guaranteed sunshine then the Big Island in Hawaii has it in bucketfuls. Choose from a beach scene, snowy mountains, lush forests, deserts, mystical waterfalls, etc. It's the perfect wedding destination for many and the weather is great even in the winter!

3. Bahamas

What better place for a beach wedding than the Bahamas? The Bahamas are made up of 2,000 islands which include the main islands such as Grand Bahama but also hundreds of tiny secluded islands that make the perfect romantic getaway. There are also plenty of activities to keep you and your guests busy - how about a spot of shark diving? The Bahamas will provide a truly unforgettable destination wedding with some stunning wedding photographs to boot.

4. Italy

The Italians know how to put on a good show and they love all things romantic, so why not head to the home of the renaissance and act out your own Romeo and Juliet... only make sure this story has a happy ending! There are so many gorgeous cities in Italy such as Verona, Venice, Florence and Rome or if you want a more rural location then head for one of Italy's many lakes such as Lake Como where George Clooney has made his home. If it's good enough for George... There are loads of flights from the UK to all parts of Italy so it's conveniently located and won't break the bank.

5. Las Vegas

Yes it's cheesy and glitzy and over the top but that's why we love it! Star struck couples have been coming here to tie the knot for years and now this city is awash with chapels. You can even have a drive-thru wedding! Once you've made your vows in full Hollywood style you can try your luck at the casinos and you might just win enough to pay for your flights back home!

If you are considering a destination wedding then do make sure that you choose the right destination wedding photographer to accompany you as you'll want some amazing photos to go with the amazing memories you have.
