Leadenhall Market - A Wedding Photographer's Playground

Getting Married In Iconic Leadenhall MarketBride and groom in front of the Lloyds Tower When James and Heather first contacted me, I was very excited. The reason for it was that their wedding was to be split over two days. The first day to be held at Osterley Park House and the second at Leadenhall Market. I had walked through and around the market on many occasions but never shot there. Buildings nearby include the Lloyds Tower, the Walkie Talkie building and the Gherkin. All making a pretty amazing backdrop for the wedding photos!

So a little more about the market itself, the instantly recognisable Grade II listed structure has featured in a number of films including Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone, and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. More recently it formed part of the marathon course for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Originally built in 1309, the market was badly damaged during the Great Fire of London, and was later rebuilt. The current structure, with its ornate maroon, green and cream ceiling, and cobbled streets, was designed in 1881 by Sir Horace Jones.

Couples wishing to be photographed beneath the iconic domed glass roof, can have their entire wedding, or just the reception at Leadenhall Market. Look for a London wedding photographer experienced with working in Leadenhall Market, as the limited natural light poses and unusual challenge to the uninitiated.

The popular Lamb Tavern offers weddings and receptions in the heart of Leadenhall Market. The bar and restaurant can seat 65 for a sit down meal, or provide a buffet for 120 guests. Party space is available across three floors, and guests are welcome to spread out into the cobbled market streets.

With it's undercover outdoor space, striking architecture, and iconic style, Leadenhall Market provides the ideal location for a relaxed wedding, with a hint of British nostalgia.
